Newt Gingrich Urges GOP To Do THIS

(Congressional Agenda) – Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, a Republican, seemingly indicated Tuesday evening that it’s time for the GOP to get over their fears concerning early and mail-in voting if they want to secure victories in upcoming elections. Gingrich is a pretty smart man, so he’s likely correct on this. If we don’t start utilizing these tactics, the left is going to beat us into the ground over and over again, and the future of our republic does not look good if we allow that to happen.

According to Nikki Schwab of the Daily Mail, Gingrich said, “Sure,” when Fox News host Sean Hannity asked him if Republican voters needed to stop being so reluctant to vote early or by mail. “You have to play the game by the rules that are existing,” he replied.

Hannity then noted that “for whatever reason” the GOP has shied away from making use of these voting methods, which ultimately resulted in a number of important losses during the midterm election last month, including the Georgia runoff race that was held earlier this week.

“For example, if you want Generation Z voters you’ve got to be on TikTok, even if in fact in the long run we may abolish TikTok as a Chinese communist device,” Gingrich commented during the interview. “It doesn’t do Republicans any good to save their TV money until October if they’ve had a third of the vote come in in September.”

The former House Speaker’s remarks came just hours after yet another Republican loss from his home state of Georgia, as GOP candidate Herschel Walker, backed by former President Donald Trump, lost to incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in a runoff race.

“Once polls closed at 7 p.m., Warnock had a commanding, 30-point lead due to the early vote numbers – with Democrats primarily taking advantage of that method,” Schwab reported. “Walker was able to catch up several times throughout the night, but the Associated Press called the race for Warnock just before 10:30 p.m. due to the bulk of the outstanding vote coming from the Atlanta area, which swings heavily Democratic.” Schwab said.

Hannity later stated he would like to see Election Day become a holiday and place limits on mail-in ballots, however, the COVID pandemic has made mail-in ballots available to anyone who requests one.

Gingrich noted that one of the advantages of early in-person voting is that parties become aware of which voters haven’t made it to the polls so they can then better target those individuals with their campaign efforts.

“Democrats focus on elections. Republicans focus on campaigns,” Gingrich remarked. “We need to rethink from the ground up.”
