(Congressional Agenda) – Are we experiencing yet another round of political targeting from the Internal Revenue Service against conservative organizations? It seems so, as the IRS has launched an investigation into the tax exempt status of a conservative group called the American Accountability Foundation (AFF) after it released details on a number of President Joe Biden’s nominees within the administration, as per a letter that is now in the possession of the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Contributor Jason Cohen wrote, “The IRS is requesting AAF submit internal financial data as well as communications, including meeting notes, publications and newsletters, according to the letter from the IRS to AAF obtained by the DCNF. The conservative nonprofit organization, which the IRS approved for tax-exempt status in August 2021, alleges the investigation is in retaliation for the AAF reporting on several recent Biden nominees who later withdrew their nominations.”
“This sudden request by the IRS is not random,” AAF President Tom Jones went on to say concerning the situation. “The IRS is demanding ‘[c]orrespondence files, emails and information posted on a website that relates to current public elected officials’ – clearly a sign that they are targeting our research and education activities. It’s a deliberate attempt to punish and suppress AAF’s activities. It is surely no coincidence that AAF—the very organization that exposed the weaponization of the IRS—is now the target of it.”
I mean, Biden and his ilk are already weaponizing the FBI along with other federal law enforcement agencies and the IRS has a history of being used in this manner, so it seems sort of par for the course at this point, doesn’t it?
The AAF has slammed several of Biden’s nominees, issuing a call for them to withdraw from consideration, which obviously did not sit well with the commander-in-chief. One of the individuals the AAF targeted was FCC chair nominee Gigi Sohn, who gave a substantial amount of cash to several Senate Commerce Democrats, including $550 to communist Sen. Raphael Warnock, $100 to Democratic Sens. John Fetterman and Catherine Cortez Masto and $200 to Sen. Michael Bennett, also a Democrat.

“AAF sent a letter to Bennett, Cortez, Masto, Fetterman and Warnock, calling on the lawmakers that received contributions to recuse themselves from voting on Sohn’s nomination and calling for Sohn to withdraw,” the piece added. “The organization also repeatedly criticized Sohn over her assertion “that Fox News has had the most negative impact on our democracy” in 2020.”
“It’s state-sponsored propaganda, with few if any opposing viewpoints,” Sohn remarked.

The conservative group ended up dropping a ton of cash, we’re talking hundreds of thousands of dollars, on billboards and other kinds of advertisements to open the eyes of the American people and demonstrate why Sohn should not become the FCC chair. The AFF also took a few weeks during 2022 to slam the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nominee, Ann Carlson, for a number of statements on energy and climate they called “radical.” One of these comments from Carlson blamed Americans for loving “their cars and their cheap gas.”
After she received a ton of backlash, the administration decided to yank her nomination. Of course we like our cheap gas and cars. That’s how we get to work to serve society and provide for our families. We use cars to take trips, stimulate the economy through tourism, and make memories with our children. What a ridiculous thing to say.
“The organization also takes credit for playing a role in the withdrawal of Biden’s Federal Aviation Administration nominee Phillip Washington, according to its website. Democratic Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse attempted to influence the agency to open an investigation into conservative organization Turning Point USA, according to documents obtained by AAF in November 2022. This included calling for the IRS to look into revoking Turning Point USA’s tax-exempt status due to hosting a large event without masks and social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the Daily Caller noted.
“Whitehouse also targeted AAF’s partner and supporter Conservative Partnership Institute’s tax-exempt status in letters to the IRS, according to his website,” the report added.
The IRS stated the reason for the audit is to certify that AAF “operates in accordance with section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code,” the letter addressed to the organization divulged.
“We demand that this abuse is put to an end at once,” Jones exclaimed. “The Biden administration is acting as the gangster arm of the Left. Our Constitution and Declaration of Independence guarantee our God-given right to speak the truth about the powerful without being punished and harassed. We will do everything in our power to keep America free.”
There’s no doubt in my mind the AAF would never have been singled out had they not decided to expose the truth about Biden’s nominees. Countless times now we have witnessed Biden harness the power of the federal government as a weapon against his political enemies. Now he’s pulling out an old strategy by sending the IRS to be his enforcer and punish anyone who dares to reveal the dark underbelly of the individuals he’s chosen to fill up his administration.
“Under former President Barack Obama, IRS officials under Lois Lerner targeted conservative groups when reviewing tax-exempt status. IRS officials under Lerner participated in choosing groups with the words ‘tea party,’ ‘patriot’ or ‘9/12’ in their names for audits,” the DC article said. Obviously, the left has not been deterred from deploying the IRS against folks for politically motivated reasons.
“As the attorney for many conservative, tea party groups targeted and harassed by the Obama IRS a decade ago, this certainly smacks of the exact same tactics used by the IRS then… and apparently being used again now against AAF,” lawyer Cleta Mitchell commented in a statement.

It’s not Biden’s IRS… The federal government should investigate non profits who do shady stuff. That many conservative NPOs do shady stuff is no secret. Dark money weighs heavily on democracy. The Scotus decision that corporations are people too opened the door to a lot of criminal influence on elections,etc.
Biden and his democrats are just showing how Corrupt they are. Everthing they do involves lying, cheating , i dont think there is anything they do is legal. They want to – take away our freedom of speach, our guns, give us all the drugs they can , destroy our Morals, Tear down Religion , let criminals off the hook. Totally destroy our Nation and Take over and RULE this Country.
We have a similar problem here in the UK with the takeover of our Civil Service and other parts of the state apparat by the Cultural Marxist orientated Common Purpose who openly proclaim their principal of “Leading Beyond Authority”.
