(Congressional Agenda) – Democratic Party strategist James Carville is still looking for answers as to what went wrong for the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris last month when she lost the election to President-elect Donald Trump. And that’s the same question that all of the heartbroken, weak-minded liberals have lost sleep over since losing bigly to their archnemesis. The answer is pretty clear to those of us who aren’t consumed by our emotions and live in reality.
The Daily Caller reports that Harris’ campaign spent a whopping $1.5 billion since it started on July 21, which is an insane amount of cash. How can someone spend that much money and still lose so egregiously? Because Kamala Harris and the rest of the Democratic Party has lost touch with the average American. They are no longer the party of the “little guy.” Republicans now represent blue collar America, which is really the way it’s always been, but the GOP just lacked the ability to adequately reach out and connect to those folks. Trump is really good at that.
Carville recently made an appearance on the ‘Politics War Room’ podcast where he spoke with co-host Al Hunt, saying there’s a spending problem in the Democratic Party that needs to be tackled.
“The resistance is going to have trouble raising money,” Carville confessed during the program, “These fundraisers are burnt.”
“The damage that the 2024 campaign has done, the damage this decade has done to the Democratic brand is almost unfathomable,” he continued.
“Carville followed up with what needs to happen next now that so much money has been spent. ‘One word: audit,'” The Western Journal reported.
“Although Carville shot down the idea of running for chair of the Democrat National Committee, he was vehement Democrats need to figure out where all of Harris’ funding went in just a few months’ time,” the article continued.
“Do you have any idea where that money went? Does anybody have any idea where that money went?” he asked the host.
Carville is right on the money — see what I did there? — about Harris’ campaign having a massive spending problem, especially when the data is given a careful examination. The campaign is $20 million in debt, which isn’t surprising when you look at some of the wild purchases that were made. A total of $5,000 was spent on nails from nail artist Tahvya Krok. How is that related to winning a presidential race? It isn’t. It’s blowing money on personal luxuries.
“If Carville seems angry and disappointed now, an audit probably won’t help as more idiotic purchases would surely come to light. Although there’s plenty of merit to Carville’s criticisms, he’s still missing the point about the Democrats’ main problem: the message. When you spend the election cycle – and arguably the past eight years – telling half the country they are evil racists, Nazis, and a threat to democracy through their support of a man who is supposedly America’s Adolf Hitler, they probably won’t vote for you,” the WJ penned.
But blowing through campaign money isn’t the only reason Harris lost. She underperformed among Black voters, Hispanic voters, and even young voters compared to how President Joe Biden reached those groups back in 2020. And it’s not that they need to put more of their attention on strategies that push identity politics either. Instead, they need to begin to actually look at the issues these folks care about. What are the values and principles these individuals hold dear?
Once you understand that, shift your policies accordingly so that you can align with those principles and values. Easy-peasy.
