(Congressional Agenda) – The citizens of Arizona went out to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots for the primaries in the state and Blake Masters, a candidate backed by President Donald Trump, took home a massive victory in his run for the party’s Senate nomination.
How much more proof does everyone need to see in order to understand that Trump still has a massive following and a ton of influence in the Republican Party? I don’t see any reality in existence where this man does not run for president and win the GOP nomination. That’s how much sway he still has, despite all of the insane attacks on him by the radical left.
According to NPR, Masters is now set to go toe-to-toe with Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly come November. This is such a critical race due to control of the Senate now being in question, that NPR is reporting it’s likely going to be one of the most watched in the country.
Masters, who once served as the former operating officer for the investment firm Thiel Capital, received the Trump seal of approval back in June.
He managed to beat out Jim Lamon, retired National Guard Maj. Gen. Michael McGuire, and state Attorney General Mark Brnovich in order to secure his party’s nomination.
“With about 80 percent of the votes counted, Masters had 39 percent of the votes, while 29 percent went to Lamon and 18 percent to Brnovich,” the Western Journal reported.
“Though Lamon outspent Masters on television ads, Masters’ campaign had the benefit of financial support from Peter Thiel, the founder of PayPal and a longtime friend and boss of Masters,” the report continued.
Lamon was embroiled in a little bit of controversy over the 2020 election, according to a report from the Arizona Republic.
Back in December 2020, Lamon was actually one out of eleven members of the GOP to sign a document that falsely claimed he was officially authorized to cast the state’s electoral votes for Trump.
“He later said it was supposed to be a contingency plan and that he meant to put himself forward as one of Arizona’s electors only if the results of the election were decertified,” the report revealed.
“While many believe the Arizona Senate race will be one of the GOP’s best chances to get seats from the Democrats, polling ahead of the primary indicated that Kelly had a slim lead over his potential Republican opponents, The Wall Street Journal reported,” the WJ report added.
Kelly, who formerly served in the Navy and is a former astronaut, ran unopposed for the Democratic Party nomination.
Once upon a time, Arizona was a reliably red state. However, in 2018, voters changed all that when they elected Sen. Krysten Sinema and then Joe Biden took the state in the 2020 election, though there is a lot of dispute still around whether the left cheated in order to make that happen. Kelly pulled off a special election win during that year by 2.4 points, according to a report published by NBC News.
