(Congressional Agenda) – A new poll from the University of Chicago and Chicago Project on Security and Threats has revealed some rather chilling data about the increasing radicalization of America, especially following the second assassination attempt on the life of former President Donald Trump this past weekend, which, thankfully, failed. The poll found that nearly 26 million Americans think “the use of force” is justified in order to keep Trump from becoming president for a second time. Guys, this is terrifying.
According to Jonathan Turley, our country has been witnessing an increase in the level of “rage rhetoric” in the political system of the United States. And while many individuals use violent language as a sort of release valve to let off steam, for some, if they talk about committing acts of violence, it soon turns into carrying out those actions. Before you know it, extreme behavior becomes normalized and more acceptable to a growing number of people.
“We are living in an age of rage. It permeates every aspect of our society and politics. Rage is liberating, even addictive. It allows us to say and do things that we would ordinarily avoid, even denounce in others. Rage is often found at the farthest extreme of reason. For those who agree with the underlying message, it is righteous and passionate. For those who disagree, it is dangerous and destabilizing,” Turley writes in his book, ‘The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage.’
“With the unrelenting claims of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and others that democracy is about to die in America, some now feel a license to commit criminal acts in the name of ‘saving democracy,'” Turley says in his latest blog post. “It is the ultimate form of self-delusion that one saves democracy by committing political violence against those with whom you disagree.”
Turley notes that radicalism on the campuses of universities and colleges is now leaking into other parts of society, infecting it with a mind virus that convinces folks the only way to truly affect change is through aggressive protesting that quickly turns into violent upheaval. Marxism teaches that those who are “oppressed” — to leftists basically any minority group is oppressed, such as the poor, homeless, LGBTQ, etc., — do not have the political means to make real, lasting changes that will improve their life so they must engage in activities that are disruptive. Think riots, sit-ins, blocking highways and so on.
And now that same mentality, thanks to social media, is making its way into the broader cultural landscape, leading to more and more people being bombarded with radical messages about victimization and oppression, with much of the blame from the left landing on the shoulders of the right.
Liberals are convinced that if they enact violence on conservatives, who they believe are standing in the way of progress toward their ultimate goal of perfecting humanity — an impossibility by the way — either conservatives will, out of fear, assimilate with the hive mind, or just simply be put out to pasture so to speak. Either solution leads to what they perceive as a hindrance being removed from their path.
“Years ago, many of us were shocked by the conduct of University of Missouri communications professor Melissa Click who directed a mob against a student journalist covering a Black Lives Matter event. Yet, Click was hired by Gonzaga University. Since that time, we have seen a steady stream of professors joining students in shouting down, committing property damage, participating in riots, verbally attacking students, or even taking violent action in protests,” Turley continued in his post.
“It is now common to hear inflammatory language from professors advocating detonating white people,’ denouncing police, calling for Republicans to suffer, strangling police officers, celebrating the death of conservatives, calling for the killing of Trump supporters, supporting the murder of conservative protesters and other outrageous statements,” he added.
Professor Erik Loomis at the University of Rhode Island actually defended the killing of a conservative protester, stating that he saw “nothing wrong” with that kind of violence.
If leftists do not begin to take responsibility for their rhetoric, we’re going to continue to see hatred between the two political ideologies grow and grow until it explodes into another civil war. Our enemies around the world would love nothing more, as such a situation would set us up for an invasion by other global superpowers.
Pray we never go down that road.

Were you better off when Trump was president?
Was our country safer while Trump was president?
Was we energy independent under Trump and fuel prices were 1/2 of what it is now?
Was groceries 30-40% less under Trump?
Was your tax burden less under Trump?
And 26 million democrats want to use force to keep him from becoming president again. I am embarrassed of my fellow Americans. We don’t need another Civil war in our country. Is that what you people are trying to start?
With the hate and rage that exists in this country, the left has set the stage for the next civil war, and sadly it’s going to happen. This country will be torn apart and leave us wide open for an invasion by one of our enemies. They will never occupy the whole country because there are too many groups that will fight against them for many decades. The United States will cease to exist and God only knows what will happen to “we the people”.
You got it backwards. The chaos, faux attacks, insurrection, grifting, lying and more perpetrated by Trump on the extreme right has those rightwingers believing in civil war. It’s not that way. We are all citizens together, although with differences in politics. Actually we are already being invaded by foreign actors under the Iranian, Russian and other dictators’ directions to assassinate their nationals who live here but disrespected their former leaders that demand death for it. There is a list of hate groups in this country numbering about 800 who are on the far right. It’s documented. That’s about half of the number from Trump’s first term start as they have been put out of business by American jurisprudence with patriotic attorneys leading the way. If Trump puts Project 2025 into full effect, then the USA will be on its way out of prominence to banana republic status in the world. Already European nations and NATO are planning around the Trump administration which will try to turn Ukraine over the Russia; will try to discredit print and broadcast media; will cast doubt on the rule of law and our Justice Department; and other nasty acts. You are right to lament the decline of ‘we the people’ which is exactly what dictators like Trump aim for. Fight against the dimming of the light; rail against the demise of democracy; act to return America to its mid 20th century prominence.
Answers to your questions:
Middle class Americans were not better off under Trump 2017-2021; a million died under covid infection which Trump belatedly recognized as pandemic and belatedly admitted it was a problem when he took ill; his tax cuts were aimed at the rich; his confusion and record administration personnel turnover; his Jan. 6th insurrection; his threats to congress to support him or suffer primaries; his disdain of intelligence agencies and support of enemy Putin; etc.
With Trump inviting Putin, Kim Jong Un, Xi and other dictators into the White House or sharing flattering comments We the People were less safe. Trump later stole classified documents to sell to our enemies. With him attempting bribery of Ukraine’s Zielinski, he tried subverting the nation, so we were not safer.
We are still energy independent, not just under Trump, due to Democrats pushing a clean energy movement. Inflation aided by greedy oil producers overcharged Americans for years. The price of oil was under control.
Trump induced supply chain deaths during covid and immigrant stifling in general led to fewer workers in agriculture and raised our prices. Injecting bleach doesn’t stop a million people from dying nor pick the crops and prep them for market.
With Americans facing a chronic liar, irrepressible criminal, and disorderly minded president out for himself and his own wealth, it’s easy to understand rage and thoughts of violence against that felon and kleptocrat. But there will be no civil war as the military is staunchly behind the Constitution and executing only ‘legal’ orders from its commander-in-chief.

Give the other side a fair shake and see. That’s what America was forced to do for the last 4 years, and they came to a just and undeniable conclusion. People saw that the agenda of the left wasn’t working, and they moved to the right.

We’ve all seen the ‘perspective’ you want. Have you read Project 2025 and seen how Trump moves with appointments already to implement it. The doom and gloom you prefer with Trump was seen in the inflation it caused consumers who couldn’t afford housing, cars and food. With more tariffs and tax cuts for the rich (not you and me) our prices are going up again and so is inflation. You know: too much money chasing too few goods. It’s coming again.
Significantly you don’t mention any of Trump’s things you want, just try to negate my bonafide list. All my friends and colleagues are anxious for the bad to come; that spells banana republic. Finances whipsawed; prices through the roof with inflation and scarce labor force picking crops (don’t forget the immigrant roundup: real nitty gritty workers doing jobs you won’t; withdrawal from more treaties; kissing a**es of Putin, Kim Jong Un, and China’s Xi; unfettered Israel attacking Iran; troops in your backyard snooping everywhere. Nope your own education has not elevated your sights toward equality for all, government of, by and for the people, Bill of Rights assured; Constitution and laws in a nation of laws thrown out. After reading all of your comments so far, I’m convinced that you’ve convinced yourself to ignore documented facts and videotaped actions that refute most of your claims about Trump. You had to do a lot of mind-twisting to do to ignore how often the Biden administration (with whoever was leading its decision-making) acted in an unconstitutional and/or unAmerican while no such actions were taken during Trump’s first term and there’s no reason to think there will be in his second term. You have to have a particularly myopic view of the man’s capacities and a deficient capacity for comprehending thought and speech patterns different from what you’re accustomed to believe normal, especially since we’ve been witnessing real mental derangement from Biden and many highly placed Democrat politicians for years. A course or two in psycholinguistics and educational psychology might help you there.
I’m thankful for my fellow American citizens dismissing the entire DNC leadership. America deserves better than the inconsequential and historically mentally limited man they cynically put up as a genuinely worthy candidate for POTUS and the ignorant woman as his successor. When people observe the violence perpetrated by the left (which has been going on for a long time) they have a tendency to become conservative, but also to become angry and resort to insults. That latter reaction then causes people to become “progressive”.
Conservatives must learn that insults usually backfire.
There is little evidence of violence on the right. College disruptions are kids being independent from their families for the first time. Demonstrations like Portland, OR, blamed on Antifa are simply false flag attacks by the extremist right.

I’m conservative church goer, in my “gayborhood” Kamala signs were every other house, I wear my Trump had walking around my neighborhood, and anywhere else I go, I haven’t experienced any problems. Who said “You have nothing to fear, but fear itself.”
