(Congressional Agenda) – Following President-elect Donald Trump’s massive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in Tuesday’s election, comedian Jon Stewart of ‘The Daily Show’ tore into the media and poll analysts for once again getting the outcome of the race completely wrong. However, it’s not just that they were wrong this time around that irked Stewart, but how inaccurate polling data has been over the course of recent decades.
Throughout the 2024 election cycle, the battle of Democratic candidates President Joe Biden and later Kamala Harris versus Donald Trump was said to be so close that it was essentially a dead heat. However, come Election Day, the president-elect took a rather dominant and commanding victory over Harris. Late in the night, Stewart pointed out that while a lot of results were still coming in, the biggest losers of the evening were actually the pollsters.
“I do want to very quickly send a quick message to all the pollsters, the election pollsters. Bl– me,” the talk show host went on to say. “I don’t ever want to [bleep] from you again. I don’t ever want to hear, ‘We’ve corrected the overcorrection.’ You don’t know s— about s— and I don’t care for it.”
Employing the use of a silly voice, Stewart mocked the pollsters saying, “‘We’ll figure it out next time — oh, we were in the margin of-‘ Bl– me!”
He showed visible signs of frustration before taking a moment to compose himself going on to suggest, “We’re going to come out of this election we are going to make all kinds of pronouncements about what this country is and what this world is, and the truth is, we are not really going to know s—.”
“I just want to point out, just as a matter of perspective, that the lessons that our pundits take away from these results that they will pronounce with certainty will be wrong, and we have to remember that,” he added, before going over some commentary from past election cycles.
According to Fox News, “Stewart recalled how ABC News host George Stephanopoulos offered glowing praise after Barack Obama’s election victory in 2008, and showed footage of the host arguing this would be ‘the first election of the future, really, and I think we are moving towards a post-racial America.'”
“Yeah, that lasted a day!” Stewart zinged.
“He then recalled how in 2012, after President Obama won reelection, it was believed that the Republicans needed to demonstrate respect for Hispanic voters,” Fox noted.
The talk show host and comedian proceeded to run some footage of Trump referring to illegal aliens from Mexico as rapists and asserting that they are bringing drugs into the United States. Which, by the way, is true, whether liberals like Stewart agree or not. It’s not racist to point out the truth. Some of these illegal aliens are criminals with serious records. Allowing them to come here without even being properly vetted puts the American people in danger. I’m not quite sure why this point is so hard for liberals to grasp, but alas, they seem incapable of understanding it.
“Which apparently was the winning message!” Stewart stated after the clip, making a reference to the massive number of Hispanic individuals who cast a vote for Trump this time around.
“Stewart then played footage of multiple commentators talking about how the country would likely favor a shift toward younger leadership,” the report added.
“Need I say it?” Stewart asked his viewers before playing footage of Biden accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination. Next, he played a video of John Heilemann, an analyst with NBC/MSNBC, making a comment after the Capitol riot in 2021, saying that “When Trump leaves office on Wednesday morning, he will leave Washington a pariah.” The talk show host also included a clip of MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell proclaiming, “Donald Trump will never be allowed to set foot in the Capitol again. Never.”
Stewart remarked, “My point is…” and then went on a long rant of cursing which the network bleeped out for three seconds.
“After reassuring listeners that this would not be the end, he played footage of a voter saying, ‘I just want this nightmare to be over. I do have children, and I have a cat, and I will be watching with my Xanax and my bottle of sauvignon blanc,” Stewart concluded.
